WHAT IS BIEDERMEIER?  The name “Biedermeier” refers to an influential German style of furniture design that evolved from 1815–1848. These pieces were constructed of local materials such as ash, oak and cherry woods rather than the popular imported mahogany. These woods were then stained, completing the elegant and simplistic style.  HOW CAN YOU SPOT ONE?
